A UK-based company is planning to establish a semiconductor fabrication unit in Ganjam district with an investment of INR 30,000 Crore in the first phase.

On March 29, SRAM & MRAM Technologies and Projects India Pvt Limited, the Indian subsidiary of the UK-based SRAM & MRAM Group, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the state government to set up the semiconductor fabrication unit.

The company is seeking approximately 500-800 acres of land, preferably near Chhatrapur, taking into consideration the proximity of the Gopalpur port. The objective is to complete the establishment of the unit within two years and generate direct employment opportunities for 5,000 individuals. The company also has plans to expand the unit in subsequent phases, investing around INR 2 Lakh crore by 2027.
