3,500 INR-Crore Assam-Bhutan Railway Link nears approval

Indian Railways has finalized the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for a 69.04 Km railway line from Kokrajhar in Assam to Gelephu in Bhutan. The final site survey is done, and now, the DPR awaits approval.

The Bhutan railway project, worth an estimated 3,500 INR-Crore, will introduce six new stations: Balajan, Garubhasa, Runikhata, Shantipur, Dadgiri, and Gelephu. The plan also includes two vital bridges, 29 major and 65 minor bridges, one road over-bridge, 39 road under-bridges, and two 11 M long viaducts. With such robust infrastructure, the railway will enhance connectivity between the two nations.
