The Bhopal cabinet has sanctioned 2 major road construction projects worth 6000 INR-Crore ahead of the Assembly polls.
The cabinet had approved the construction of the 40.90 km long west Bhopal bypass on August 31. The four-lane access control bypass starts before Mandideep and ends on Indore road in Phanda Kalan village. The construction cost for the project is 3000 INR-Crore.

The second major road project for Bhopal, the eight-lane elevated Lake corridor, got the approval on October 4 by the cabinet. It is a 6.71 km long corridor starting at Kamla Park. It will run parallel to the VIP road and have two sections (Khanugaon area to Indore road and for the Airport). The construction cost for this project is 3155 INR-Crore.
The Bhopal government aims to reduce road accidents, regulate traffic movement, and cater to the rise in vehicles in Bhopal through these projects.
