The Public Works Department of Uttarakhand has proposed the construction of a new PWD Medical College in Haridwar under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme. This Medical College will be equipped with adequate educational and residential facilities for its resident students. The setting up of a new medical college will give a boost to the healthcare infrastructure of Haridwar will help overcome the shortcomings of hospitals in wake of the pandemic.
Project Specifications:
The Medical College and District Hospital will cover a land parcel of 70.07 acres with a built-up area of 2,931,695 sq.ft. The medical college will comprise a Training Hospital, an Academic Block, an Examination Hall, a Boys Hostel, a Girls Hostel, a Boys intern Hostel, a Girls intern Hostel, Residents Junior (Girls) Hostel, Residents Junior (Boys) Hostel and a Nurses Block. Three residential blocks will have stilt floors plus 3 upper storeys, while the fourth type will have stilt floor plus 2 upper storeys. The project will also include a Director’s residence, Guest House, Canteen, Sports complex, Sub-Station Club House, and a Community Center.
