Government Medical College at Jaisalmer, Rajasthan has been proposed by the Department of Health and Family Welfare, Rajasthan and the Department of Medical Education, Rajasthan. The proposed project will consist of Healthcare, educational, residential and recreational facilities along with amenities like a landscape/garden. A Rainwater harvesting plant will be installed on site to make the project more sustainable. An amount of Rs. 325 crore has been sanctioned under the Central Sponsored Scheme for the proposed medical college.
Project Specifications:
The proposed project envisages the upgradation of District Hospital to Medical College at Jaisalmer in Rajasthan and will spread over a land parcel of 60 acres with a construction area of 5,23,840 sq.ft. This upcoming project will be developed under Phase-III of the Centrally Sponsored Scheme for the ‘Establishment of new medical colleges attached to the existing District/Referral hospitals’. The development of the proposed medical college will include an academic block along with an indoor sports section, a playground and a Tennis court. Hostels and a mess will be provided for residential purposes and an open air theatre for the purpose of recreation. This upcoming multifaceted medical college will add more value to the current District Hospital as it will become a healthcare hub for Jaisalmer and its neighbouring districts.
