Arjun Rathi Design unveiled a stylish lighting range known as the Bauhaus Collection. Mumbai-based Arjun Rathi Design is well known for its unique collections that merge art, design and function. Each piece in the Bauhaus Collection showcases the brand’s exquisite workmanship and inventive designs.
In true Bauhaus style, Arjun Rathi Design has explored industrial processes of metal fabrication in combination with hand blown glass, to create a collection of lighting capable of mass production. The series features clean geometric forms made from enduring materials such as metal and glass embodying a futuristic look while still maintaining functionality.
Highlights from the Bauhaus Collection
Loop Lamp Series
Slender chain links are the inspiration for The Loop Light series, a form emphasising the minimal and industrial look. The loop frame is bent in metal or brass supporting a fluorescent tube cased in acrylic. Chain links have always enjoyed a coveted place in jewellery. The lamp features interlocking metal loops to create a fluid form.
J Lamp Series
The J Lamp series is a composition of sleek pipes, bent in the form of semi-circular arches, and opaline blown glass pearls lit with LED fixtures. The lamp comprises an arch consisting of two weaknesses leaning on each other to make strength.
L Lamp Series
The L Lamp series composes a sleek semi-circular pipe frame, cantilevered with a metal counter-weight base, opaline blown glass pearls lit with LED fixtures.
Frequency Light Series
The Frequency Light series depicts the form of a sound wave but at different frequencies, which creates a play in the overall form making it look dynamic. The fixture consists of opaline blown glass pearls in between every wave. The Frequency lights explore the language of sonic geometry. It looks to represent the beauty of sound in a language of metal, blown glass and light.
Wavelength Series
The Wavelength series takes inspiration from the particle and wave nature of light itself. Without light there is no architecture. A ray of light with a wavelength of a half millionth of an inch can travel from one end of the galaxy to the other. There is geometry in the humming of strings. There is music in the spacing of the spheres. The waveform is crafted into a sleek metal frame with blown glass globes and can be customised in running length.
Twin Light Series
The Twin Light series consists of two similar loops yet facing opposite each other and connected at the edge supporting two rods for the suspension. Opaline blown glass pearls are beaded inside the loops making the overall fixture as a complete form. In geometry, as in nature, the circle is the archetypal shape of wholeness and inclusion.

Arjun Rathi Design is a multi-disciplinary studio working across Architecture & Lighting Design. Many of us spend the majority of our time living and working in different environments lit by artificial light. As a studio, we aim to interpret space through the lens of lighting, design fixtures, and installations that can capture our imagination and inspire us in these spaces.
Working on both ends of the design spectrum, from single pieces made together with craftsmen to mass-produced objects developed in collaboration with the manufacturers. The studio is not defined by a particular style, but rather by questioning objects while considering their context and cultural associations embedded in them. They take care of each project phase, from on-site visits, exploratory studies, design, and technical drawings to the final production and space atmosphere. Depending on the commission, they either design with a specific space in mind, or they work detached from it, sometimes resulting in a product usable in various spaces.
