Six bidders, NCC Limited, GR Infraprojects Limited, Hindustan Construction Company Limited (HCC), JMC Projects (India) Limited, Dineshchandra R Agrawal Infracon Private Limited, L&T Constructions took part in the competition for constructing an elevated viaduct for Chennai Metro Corridor. After a keen assessment, Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) awarded the contract to L&T Constructions for civil works. The project will also include an elevated ramp and ten elevated metro stations from Nehru Nagar to Sholinganallur in Chennai. With an estimated cost of INR 963 crores, the project will empower the transport infrastructure of Chennai.
The project envisages packages (C3-CP08-EV-01) of Corridor 3 of the Chennai Metro. Corridor 3 will run 45.81 km, from Madhavaram to Siruseri. It will serve 50 metro stations. The construction will include an elevated viaduct (approximate Length – 10 km) including an elevated ramp and ten elevated metro stations are Nehru Nagar, Kandanchavadi, Perungudi, Thoraipakkam, Mettukuppam, PTC Colony, Okkiyampet, Karapakkam, Okkiyam, Thoraipakkamand Sholinganallur.
Contract Conditions (GCC, SCC) will include the Makes and Manufacturer’s list. The Bill of Quantities (BoQ) will include the cost of installation of plumbing pipes (UPVC/CPVC/CPC), railings, vitrified tiles, double charged vitrified tiles, glazed vitrified tiles (GVT), and aluminium windows. The installation of a rainwater harvesting plant helps ensure they meet the sustainability standards of the project.
The project’s construction will begin in 2022 and will be completed by 2025.
