An upcoming Medical School is to come up at IIT in Kanpur. On July 16, 2022, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Minister of Education, laid the cornerstone for the Yadupati Singhania Super Speciality Hospital and Gangwal School of Medical Sciences and Technology. This medical school is a part of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur campus. JK Cements Limited is assisting the institute in the hospital’s construction, and academic buildings. BM India Pvt Ltd and REC Foundation, respectively will build the residences for resident physicians.
The upcoming medical school at IIT Kanpur will include a 450+ bed Yadupati Singhania Super Speciality Hospital. A 50-bed Centre for Cancer Care and Research is also in the works. An academic building, residential buildings, and many Centres of Excellence (CoE) for Research and Development in innovative medicine, make up the rest of the buildings according to the institute. The Yadupati Singhania Super Speciality Hospital and The Gangwal School of Medical Sciences and Technology aim to give technical solutions to unmet medical requirements in the nation. They also wish to provide the application of technology in health care delivery.
