In August 2022, Biltrax Construction Data tracked over 1235 new projects. These include 676 building projects as well as 559 industrial and infrastructure projects.
Building Construction Projects Insights
The 676 building projects monitored for the month of August 2022 cover a total area of 185.25 million sq. ft. amounting to a total construction cost of INR 54,929 crores. Of these 676 projects, 274 are currently under construction and 402 are early-stage projects whose construction has not yet started. Among these projects, 383 are private projects and 293 are public projects.
Two mega projects under the residential category include Goyal & HN Sky City Township Development, Shela, in Gujarat (Construction Cost – INR 4,060 crores; Construction Area – 11,600,000 sq. ft.) and Vaishnaoi Prestige City, Premavathipet in Telangana (Construction Cost – INR 3,870 crores; Construction Area – 12,904,975 sq. ft.). Furthermore, other megaprojects tracked include a datacentre – TCL Data Center (IDC) Expansion in Pune. This data centre’s approval is underway and will cost INR 1,132 crores for 45,30,778 sq. ft. of the construction area. With 367 projects, residential projects were the most common, followed by educational, commercial, and healthcare building projects.
Additionally, 267 new tenders were floated and duly tracked with a tender value of over INR 19,822 crores. The most prominent tender issuers include Central Public Works Department (CPWD), Public Works Department, Madhya Pradesh, and Public Works Department, Assam.
Industrial and Infrastructure Projects Insights
The 158 industrial projects monitored for the month of August 2022 cover a total area of 58.19 million sq. ft. amounting to a total construction cost of INR 75,914 crores. Among the states, Maharashtra topped the industrial projects chart grossing 24 projects, followed by Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Gujarat.
In the road infrastructure category, there were 32 industrial projects entailing a cost of INR 28,248 crores. In terms of water infrastructure projects, 369 projects amounting to a total of INR 21,669 crores were also tracked. Maharashtra attracted the highest water projects with 122 projects, followed by Orissa, Jharkhand, West Bengal, and Rajasthan.
A transport infrastructure project, “Bareilly Light Metro Phase 1, Route (Jhumka Tirahe – Railway Station)”, is also proposed to be constructed in Uttar Pradesh. This project will attract an investment of INR 1000 crores.
