The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) approved a proposal by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs to extend the metro network in Delhi NCT on June 7, 2023.
The approval includes the construction of a new 28.5 km line connecting Gurugram’s City Centre to the Cyber City, along with a 1.5 km spur line connecting the Dwarka Expressway. The project is estimated to cost INR 5,453 crore and is scheduled to be completed within four years.
The implementation of the project will be carried out by Haryana Mass Rapid Transport Corporation Limited (HMRTC), which will be established as a 50:50 special purpose vehicle (SPV) by the Central and Haryana Governments. The new metro lines will contribute to the creation of numerous job opportunities in Gurugram, attracting both Indian and foreign investors in the IT sector and innovation-led industries.
