Odisha approves 11 industrial projects worth INR 3,266 Crore investment

On 10 July 2023, the Odisha government approved 11 industrial projects worth INR 3,266 Crore, set to generate employment for 9,146 individuals. The State-Level Single Window Clearance Authority (SLSWCA) chaired by Chief Secretary PK Jena, granted approval during its meeting. The projects span various sectors including metal downstream and ancillary, chemicals, food processing, agro-processing, plastics, textiles apparel, IT & ESDM, and renewable energy.

Notably, Nestle India Limited, a leading multinational company, will invest INR 890 Crore in the state, establishing a food processing unit in Khurda and employing over 800 people. In the textiles & apparel sector, Colortone Garments Private Limited, a subsidiary of First Step Baby-Wear, plans to establish an integrated apparel manufacturing facility along with a 1.2 MW rooftop captive solar power plant, with an investment exceeding INR 200 Crore and employment opportunities for over 4,820 people.

Additionally, Himadri Specialty Chemical Limited, a prominent name in the chemicals sector, received approval to set up its first chemical manufacturing unit in Odisha, investing over INR 980 Crore and providing employment to over 1,400 individuals.

Furthermore, the plastic sector witnessed significant investment in Odisha, with three projects gaining approval. IDVB Recycling Operations Private Limited will establish a unit for recycled pet flakes and recycled per resin products, with an annual capacity of 63,000 MT and an investment of INR 318 Crore, employing over 240 people. 

Purv Packaging Private Limited will set up a manufacturing unit for plastic caps, pet preforms, and allied products, investing INR 152 Crore and generating employment for over 133 individuals. RDB Rasayans Limited will establish a manufacturing unit for flexible intermediate bulk containers and related products, with an annual capacity of 6,000 MT, investing INR 59 Crore and providing employment to over 390 people.

SLSWCA also approved two projects in the metal downstream and ancillary sectors. Beekay Utkal Steel Private Limited and IFGL Refractories Limited aim to employ more than 350 individuals with investments exceeding INR 260 Crore. IFGL Refractories Limited will establish its second unit in the state, while Beekay Utkal Steel Private Limited will set up its third unit.

Lastly, in the IT & ESDM sector, the committee granted approval to a project by Nisum Consulting Private Limited, involving an investment of INR 200 Crore.
