Zeiss Group, a leading global optical lens manufacturer, plans to invest approximately INR 2,500 Crore in India to establish a new plant in Karnataka. The primary objective of this investment is to enhance the manufacturing capacity for spectacle glasses.
The Indian arm of Zeiss Group, Carl Zeiss India, anticipates employing around 5,000 individuals once the new plant reaches full operational capacity. With 25 years of operations in India already completed, the company aims to achieve a turnover of INR 5,000 Crore by 2027.
The company has acquired 34 acres of land in close proximity to the Bengaluru airport and is in the process of acquiring an additional nine acres. Construction work on the plant is scheduled to commence in mid-July 2023, and the company expects to commence manufacturing on parallel lines by October 2024.
