L&T Construction’s Heavy Civil Infrastructure division has secured a significant contract from Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) to undertake the design and construction of an underground metro project of the Joka-Esplanade Metro Corridor in Kolkata.
The project’s primary scope includes the design and construction of the underground Metro Railway works spanning a distance of 5 kilometers, specifically from Mominpur to Esplanade (Chainage 9,063m to 14,113m).
The work involves the establishment of four underground stations, namely Kidderpore, Victoria, Park Street, and Esplanade, along with the construction of tunnels using tunnel boring machines (TBMs) and cut & cover methods. Additionally, the project encompasses architectural finishing works, track works, and other related activities.
