Larsen & Toubro, a major player in engineering and construction, emerged as the lowest bidder for designing and constructing the proposed Hyderabad Airport Express Metro Line project on Monday, August 14.
The airport metro, spanning 31 kilometers and linking Raidurg to GMR Hyderabad International Airport, will consist of an elevated stretch measuring 29.3 kilometers and a 1.7-kilometer underground section situated near the airport terminal, which will accommodate an underground metro station.
Commencement of construction is anticipated in September, and the project completion is slated for a 36-month timeline. While the Hyderabad Metro rail project was established through a public-private partnership involving L&T, Hyderabad Metro Rail Ltd., and was executed using the design, build, finance, operate, and transfer model, the funding for the airport metro is being provided by the Telangana government.
