Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has floated a tender worth 506 INR-Crore to construct a Depot (car shade) in Kanjurmarg. The proposed depot is a part of the 15.31 km long Metro line 6.
Sanjay Mukherjee, Metropolitan Commissioner, on Thursday, October 12, announced that the depot (spanning across 15 Hectares) will include primary facilities, such as 18 stabling lines, an auxiliary Substation, an automatic train washing facility, an OCC, staff quarters, a maintenance line, and a workshop.

The construction of the Kanjurmarg depot is expected to be completed in 30 months once the contractor receives the letter of intent.
The proposed Metro Line 6 runs through Swami Samarth Nagar (Andheri) and Vikhroli. The construction of the metro line is 70% completed and is fully-funded by the National Development Bank (NDB). The metro work is anticipated to be completed by November/ December 2024, but the deadline can extend due to depot construction.
