The Minister of Medical Education, Hasan Mushrif, on Friday, December 02, announced the development of a 1,100-bed hospital in Shenda Park, Kolhapur. The proposed hospital will be attached to the existing Rajarshi Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj Government Medical College.
The estimated cost of the proposed hospital facility is 1,000 INR Crore and it will be developed over 30 acres of land. Moreover, it will be developed in a phased manner and the first phase will cost 251 INR Crore.

The project will include 600 beds for general patients, 250 beds for cancer patients, 250 beds for special treatment, as well as seven modular operation theaters. Currently, the work on auditorium halls, a new exam center, a central library, a dissection hall, and a girls’ hostel in the vicinity of the proposed hospital is ongoing.
