The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), on Tuesday, January 23, floated a fresh tender for the 5.6 km-long elevated corridor project connecting P D Mello Road (Orange Gate) with Grant Road in South Mumbai. The authority has also doubled the project cost from the previous INR 638 Crore to an estimated INR 1170 Crore in the new tender.
The project’s initial tender was floated in February 2023 and included the construction of a flyover connecting the southern end of the Eastern Freeway with Grant Road. The new tender was floated due to design changes in the project which involves developing a cable-styled bridge instead of a normal flyover.

As per the new tender, the project will be built on Mono Piles, reducing space consumption on the surface since the flyover passes through heavily congested areas of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR). It also has a provision for removing all utility channels which were not considered in the previous tender.
