Assam: PM Modi to lay foundation stone of Maa Kamakhya corridor; Will unveil development projects worth INR 11,000 Crore

Prime Minister Modi to lay the foundation stone for the Maa Kamakhya Access corridor, an initiative worth INR 500 Crore under the PM-DevINE Scheme (the PM’s development initiative for the North-East Region). The project is poised to enhance the temple’s infrastructure and transform the region’s religious and cultural landscape.

The upcoming project named Maa Kamakhya Divyank Pariyojana will mirror the Kashi-Vishwanath Temple Corridor Project in Varanasi. Scheduled for February 4, the ceremony will take place at the revered Kamakhya Temple in Guwahati, marking a significant milestone in the region’s development.

Furthermore, the PM will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for various development projects worth a combined estimated cost of INR 11,000 Crore. These include the inauguration of two 4-laning projects, namely Dolabari to Jamuguri and Biswanath Chariali to Gohpur, as well as laying the foundation stone for-

  • Multiple road upgradation projects worth an estimated INR 3400 Crores. These comprise 43 roads (38 bridges) upgradations as part of the SASEC (South Asia Subregional Economic Cooperation) Corridor connectivity.
  • Renovation of the historic Nehru Stadium in Guwahati into a FIFA and Olympics standard football ground worth an estimated INR 831 Crore.
  • The multi-facility sports complex at Chandrapur, intended to host national games.
  • A new age Gauhati Medical College and Hospital, poised to cater to 3500 patients simultaneously.
  • Karimganj Medical College at Barek Valley, funded by the Central Government.
  • Unity Mall at Barek Valley, funded by the Central Government.
