Adani Group to set up USD 1.2 billion Copper manufacturing plant in Gujarat

Adani Group has announced the construction of the world’s largest single-location copper manufacturing plant in Gujarat’s Mundra, worth an estimated cost of USD 1.2 Billion. The project’s initial phase is scheduled for commencement by the end of March 2024.

The upcoming greenfield copper manufacturing project will have a full-scale generation capacity of 1 Million tonnes by March 2029. Kutch Copper Ltd (KCL), a subsidiary of Adani Enterprises Ltd (AEL), is overseeing the development of this project being executed in two phases. Phase I having a capacity of 0.5 MTPA (Million Tonnes per Annum) is in the advanced stages of construction and is scheduled to be operational by the end of 2024.

The plant will produce copper cathodes and rods along with important byproducts such as gold, selenium, silver, platinum, sulphuric acid, and phosphoric acid. The project aligns with India’s increasing focus on clean energy systems, electronic vehicles, and associated applications, resulting in a surge in copper demand.
