NTPC Green Energy Ltd (NGEL), on Thursday, February 22, signed a land lease agreement with the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) for the development of its proposed integrated green hydrogen hub in Pudimadaka village. The Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the 1200-acre facility is currently being prepared.
The facility is envisaged to be India’s largest green hydrogen production facility. It will be developed in a phased manner with phase I anticipated to be completed in 2026. NGEL will invest an estimated INR 1.1 Lakh-Crore in this project that will feature a world-class ecosystem for technologies such as electrolyser and fuel cell manufacturing, related ancillary industries, start-ups, incubation, and testing facilities, alongside the production of green hydrogen and derivatives (green ammonia and green methanol).

The upcoming project will also feature pre-engineered buildings, sheds with solar rooftops, industrial spaces, and central business districts. NTPC has set a target to achieve 60 GW of RE (renewable energy) capacity by 2032, demonstrating its commitment to the state’s and India’s decarbonisation objectives.
