In April 2024, Biltrax Construction Data tracked over 1489 new projects. These include 805 building projects as well as 684 industrial & infrastructure projects.
Building Construction Projects Insights
The 805 building projects incorporated in April 2024 cover a total area of 262 Million-SqFt amounting to a total construction cost of INR 104,587 Crore. Of these 805 projects, 322 are actively under construction, & 483 are in the early stages with construction yet to begin. The breakdown comprises 499 private projects & 306 public projects.
Redevelopment of Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute & Dr. RML Hospital, an upcoming mixed-use development project in New Delhi, is one of the mega projects tracked under the Educational & Healthcare sector (with a construction cost of INR 2,000 Crore). HLL Infra Tech Services Limited (HITES) will oversee the development. Encompassing nearly 44.38 Acres this mixed-use development will feature a Main campus, Medical College building, Nursing College, Hostel, & Dharamshala Building.
Another notable mega project tracked includes a residential development – the SRA Slum Rehabilitation by Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) in Ghatkopar, Mumbai, with a construction cost of INR 4,300 Crore. The project includes the construction of Slum Rehabilitation Buildings under the Slum Rehabilitation Scheme at Ramabai Ambedkar Nagar in Ghatkopar East.
462 new tenders were floated and duly tracked with a tender value of over INR 26,804 Crore. Central Public Works Department (CPWD), Madhya Pradesh Building Development Corporation Limited (MPBDCL), Military Engineer Services (MES), & the Government of Odisha Works Department are among the top and most notable tender issuers.
Industrial and Infrastructure Projects Insights
494 Industrial Projects worth INR 49,234 Crore & 190 Infrastructural Projects worth INR 48,853 Crore were incorporated in April 2024.
In April 2024, 461 industrial projects were incorporated, encompassing a total area of 63.99 Million-SqFt & a total construction cost of INR 46,991 Crore. Among the states, Maharashtra topped the industrial projects chart grossing 78 projects, followed by Telangana, Karnataka, Gujarat & Tamil Nadu.
In terms of water infrastructure projects, 121 projects amounting to a total of INR 14,696 Crore were added. Gujarat attracted the highest number of water projects followed by Orissa, Maharashtra, Kerala & Uttar Pradesh.
April also saw the unveiling of major infrastructure projects related to transport. This includes the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MORTH)’s Four Laning of Mirzapur bypass of Section NH 135A in the state of Uttar Pradesh. The construction cost of this project is INR 989 Crore.
One of the major industrial projects includes the Chiripal Plastic Products Manufacturing Unit in Bhagthali, Kathua, Jammu & Kashmir which is currently under construction. Approximately INR 1200 Crore will be spent on this manufacturing unit.
