In the recent development of the Chennai Metro Rail (CMR) Project, the construction of 10 elevated metro stations along the OMR IT corridor has commenced. The corridor connects Taramani and Sholinganallur as part of Phase 2 of the Metro Rail project.
The elevated line, which will be 13m to 24m high, aims to enhance connectivity along the IT corridor. The pillar work for the stations has already started, which will be positioned below the viaduct where the tracks will be laid. Land acquisition is also underway for the construction of station entry and exits.

The stretch from Taramani Metro to Sholinganallur of the Chennai Metro is expected to be ready next year. This stretch is part of the 45.4km Corridor-3, which extends from Madhavaram Milk Colony to Siruseri Sipcot. Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) officials report that construction work on this stretch is progressing at a brisk pace. The first stretch of 116.1km Phase 2 is expected to open in 2025, whereas the final stretch is set to open in 2028.
