The Pune Metro is expanding its reach with the PCMC-Nigdi extension, officially named ‘Phase 1A’. The authority has started work to lay the extended route of the Pune Metro from Pimpri to Bhakti-Shakti Chowk (Nigdi).
The extension covers a 4.413 km elevated stretch of Pune Metro’s Purple Line. This line will connect Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) to Nigdi. The extension will include three new stations: Chinchwad, Akurdi, and Nigdi. The project is estimated to cost INR 910.18 Crore.

MahaMetro prepared the Detailed Project Report (DPR) which was approved by the state government in February 2021. PM Modi laid the foundation for the Pune Metro extension route on March 6, 2024, whereas it is scheduled for completion in early 2027.
