Foundation Laid for 25MW Solar Project in Assam

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, on Friday, June 14, laid the foundation stone for a 25-megawatt (MW) solar project at the Namrup Thermal Power Station in Dibrugarh district. The upcoming solar project will span approximately 108 Acres and cost an estimated  INR 115 Crore.

This solar project is a joint venture between the Assam Power Generation Corporation and Oil India Limited. Approved by the State Cabinet, the solar project is set to produce 50 Million units of electricity annually. Moreover, the construction is expected to be completed by July 2025 after its commencement.

Furthermore, Chief Minister Sarma highlighted that Assam will produce around 3,000 MW of solar-generated electricity by 2030. He also mentioned that the construction of a 1,000-MW solar power facility in Karbi Anglong will begin soon.
