SAIL-Bhilai Steel Plant (SAIL-BSP) laid the foundation stone for the 15 MW floating solar plant at Maroda-1 reservoir on Sunday, June 30. The upcoming floating solar plant projects will occur in two phases at the Maroda-1 and Maroda-2 reservoirs.
The NTPC-SAIL Power Supply Company Limited (NSPCL), a joint venture between National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) and Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), is responsible for this project. The upcoming project aims to generate approximately 34.26 Million units of green power annually.

Bhilai Steel Plant will use this power to reduce its CO2 emissions by 28,330 Tonnes yearly. The project is expected to finish next year. Additionally, SAIL-Bhilai Steel Plant plans another solar power plant of 35 MW at Nandini through NSPCL in the next phase.
