Mumbai Central Terminus, nearing its centenary, is set for an impressive overhaul valued at approximately 1,500 INR-Crore. The Rail Land Development Authority (RLDA) has prepared a plan to transform the 32.5 Acres station premises.
Currently, the G+6 floors building, which hosts suburban railway offices, rest houses, and meeting halls, will be relocated to Grant Road and Mahalaxmi. Meanwhile, the redevelopment will evolve the Mumbai Central Terminus into a bustling hub designed to accommodate over 650,000 daily passengers by 2065. It will feature separate plazas for passenger and parcel entry and exit.

Additionally, Mumbai Central Terminus will include two expansive concourses: the upper covering around 27,516 SqM and the lower covering 34,366 SqM. Along with this, it will also offer metro and taxi connectivity, a shopping mall, and refreshment zones. The redevelopment marks a significant advancement in modernizing the city’s infrastructure. Moreover, the project will introduce skyscrapers housing commercial establishments and offices.
