These encompass more than 17.03 Billion-SqFt of construction area and a total estimated construction value of 9,889,845 INR-Crore (1.16 USD-Trillion). These projects account for a significant %age of India’s construction industry, highlighting Biltrax’s comprehensive coverage and crucial role in the sector. Our extensive coverage includes information on 26,172 project owners, 9,859 architectural & consulting firms, and 5,028 construction firms. These include more than 6.5 million approvals for over 16,000 leading brands active across India.

Overview:

In Q1 FY 2024-25 (April-June 2024), Biltrax’s BX-1 platform mapped 2,331 building construction projects across India. These projects cover a total construction area of 733.97 Million-SqFt and involve an estimated construction cost of 268,978 INR-Crore

Sector-Wise Distribution

Of the projects tracked, 1,589 are from private developers, covering nearly 607 Million-SqFt of construction area with a total construction value of 222,035 INR-Crore. Public and public-private ventures contributed to 742 projects, spanning 126.83 Million-SqFt and valued at 46,943 INR-Crore. This distribution highlights the significant involvement of both sectors in driving the nation’s construction activities.

North Zone – Delhi, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Chandigarh, Ladakh. 

Northeast Zone – Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, Tripura.

In Q1 FY 2024-25, the West and South zones continued to be the most active regions, offering the greatest potential for further urbanization and development.


A. North Zone

Construction Projects in the North Zone

In the North zone, BX-1 mapped 340 building projects, covering 133.79 Million-SqFt of construction area worth an estimated construction cost of 49,699 INR-Crore. Private sector developers contributed 189 of these projects, covering 114.26 Million-SqFt with a construction value of 40,968 INR-Crore. Meanwhile, the public sector accounted for 151 projects, spanning 19.53 Million-SqFt and valued at 8,731 INR-Crore.

Within the North zone, Uttar Pradesh led with 127 projects covering 41.88 Million-SqFt of construction area and valued at 13,939 INR-Crore. Similarly, Haryana had the highest construction area and cost, with 60 projects spanning 54.78 Million-SqFt, valued at 20,188 INR-Crore. The majority of these projects were residential.

The Uttar Pradesh Government continues to launch new initiatives, such as the development of new cities and townships, resulting in a strong public sector presence in building projects. Notably, in the last quarter, the government announced plans to acquire 6,000 hectares of agricultural land for a new city near Noida International Airport along the Yamuna Expressway. Additionally, under “Project Alankar,” a proposal seeking 750 INR-Crore for the repair of schools during the 2024-25 academic session has been submitted. Additionally, the Union Territory administration of Jammu and Kashmir is planning to construct five-star hotels across all 20 districts to boost tourism infrastructure.

In Q1 FY 2024-25, BX-1 recorded 236 project owners actively working on 339 building projects across the North zone. Among private developers, M3M India Pvt Ltd and DLF Ltd stood out in Haryana, each managing three projects that together contribute approximately 34% of the state’s total construction value. In the public sector, the Central Public Works Department (CPWD) emerged as a key player, with 17 projects valued at 2,103 INR-Crore. Additionally, 112 design firms were monitored, with RSMS Architects taking on three projects totaling 1,346 INR-Crore in construction value.

B. Northeast Zone

Construction Projects in the Northeast Zone

In the previous quarter, 60 building projects were recorded in the Northeast zone covering a construction area of 9.14 Million-SqFt and a construction cost of 2,635 INR-Crore. The public sector alone was responsible for 54 projects, covering 6.75 Million-SqFt at 1,937 INR-Crore. Private sector projects made up the rest, with 6 projects spanning 2.39 Million-SqFt and costing 698 INR-Crore.

In the North-East zone, Assam emerged as the top state in terms of all the parameters. BX-1 tracked 20 projects in Assam in the last quarter, covering 3.24 Million-SqFt and valued at 1,068 INR-Crore. It contributed to around 40% of the zone’s total building construction value. 

Key Stakeholders in the Northeast Zone (Based on Construction Value)

In the Northeast zone, 29 project owners were tracked on the BX-1 platform, actively developing 51 building projects during Q1 FY 2024-25. Of these, 41 projects are being developed by government organizations. Notably, the Building & Housing Department, Sikkim is developing all three projects tracked in the state. 14 design architects involved in 22 projects were mapped in the previous quarter. Among them, Hosmac India Pvt Ltd is overseeing the PA Sangma International Hospital project in Meghalaya. This project being developed for the University of Science & Technology Meghalaya (USTM), is valued at 300 INR-Crore.

C. East Zone

Construction Projects in the East Zone

In the East zone, 306 building projects were mapped, covering 40.31 Million-SqFt of construction area with a construction cost of 11,903 INR-Crore. The private sector contributed 175 projects, spanning 19.05 Million-SqFt with a construction cost of 5,580 INR-Crore. Public and public-private ventures made up the remaining 131 projects, covering 21.26 Million-SqFt, valued at 6,323 INR-Crore.

Within the East zone, Odisha led with 106 building projects, followed by West Bengal with 94 projects. The developments in Odisha span 15.92 Million-SqFt of construction area with a total construction value of 5,036 INR-Crore. Meanwhile, West Bengal’s projects cover 9.25 Million-SqFt and are valued at 2,768 INR-Crore. Odisha had a share of 42% of the zone’s total project value. A significant portion of the projects in this zone are focused on residential developments.

Key Stakeholders in the East Zone (Based on Construction Value)

In the East zone, 229 project owners were actively engaged in nearly 300 building projects, as mapped by BX-1. These include 5 projects by the Odisha Bridge & Construction Corporation Limited (OBCC), with a combined construction value of 1,735 INR-Crore. These primarily focused on healthcare and educational buildings. The Radisson Hotel Group (RHG) emerged as a leading hospitality player, with three new hotels being tracked in the region. BX-1 also mapped 70 design architects appointed in 97 building projects during the same period. Of these, S M Consultants is involved in a major project for the redevelopment of Veer Surendra Sai Institute at Burla, Odisha, worth nearly 700 INR-Crore.

D. West Zone

Construction Projects in the West Zone

The majority of the building projects mapped in Q1 FY 2024-25 are coming up in the West zone. This zone saw 947 mapped building projects, covering 288.56 Million-SqFt of construction area with an estimated construction cost of 106,324 INR-Crore. The private sector dominates the region, accounting for nearly 79% of the building projects. Specifically, 747 private sector projects are being developed, with a combined construction value of 84,026 INR-Crore and a construction area of 233.32 Million-SqFt. Public and public-private ventures contributed 200 projects, covering 55.24 Million-SqFt and valued at 22,298 INR-Crore. Notably, the West zone had a high number of commercial projects, accounting for 61% of all commercial projects mapped in the quarter.

In the West zone, Maharashtra contributed nearly 75% of the total construction value. This includes 637 projects with a total construction cost of 80,033 INR-Crore, covering 205.69 Million-SqFt. Gujarat followed with 285 projects, spanning 80.08 Million-SqFt and valued at 25,237 INR-Crore.

In April 2024, the Gujarat tourism department allocated 200 INR-Crore to develop Special Tourism Zones (STZ) across the state. These zones will be developed as both greenfield and brownfield projects.

Key Stakeholders in the West Zone (Based on Construction Value)

In the West zone, BX-1 tracked 741 project owners involved in 947 building projects during Q1 FY 2024-25. This included 651 private developers managing 725 projects, and 53 government developers working on 181 projects. Among the government developers, the Health and Family Welfare Department of Gujarat alone has undertaken 40 projects worth 5,330 INR-Crore. Dosti Realty emerged as the top private developer, with 4 projects in Maharashtra valued at 1,943 INR-Crore. Deserve Group has proposed a commercial development project at Kurla, Mumbai, Maharashtra, worth nearly 3,218 INR-Crore.

Additionally, BX-1 discovered 42 civil works contractors appointed in 48 projects during Q1 FY 2024-25. BG Shirke Construction Technology Pvt Ltd secured a major civil works contract from the City & Industrial Development Corporation of Maharashtra Limited (CIDCO) for the construction of approximately 3,833 Nos. of Tenements with development of commercial area and onsite infrastructure works under proposed rehousing and redevelopment project in URC-02 at Kisan Nagar, Thane. The estimated cost of this project is 1,093 INR-Crore.

E. South Zone

Construction Projects in the South Zone

The South zone accounted for approximately 34% of the total construction value tracked on BX-1 during Q1 FY 2024-25. This includes 563 building projects with a combined construction area of 244.36 Million-SqFt and a total construction cost of 92,879 INR-Crore. Of these, 414 projects are being developed by the private sector, covering 226.72 Million-SqFt with an aggregated construction cost of 86,781 INR-Crore. Public sector projects contributed 149 projects, spanning 17.64 Million-SqFt and valued at 6,098 INR-Crore. The South zone saw a high number of educational projects, accounting for 27% of the overall educational projects tracked in Q1 of FY 2024-25.

Tamil Nadu’s Health department has initiated the process of identifying land to establish six new government medical colleges. Meanwhile, the officials of Telangana Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TGIIC) identified 200 Acres of land parcels along Outer Ring Road in Maheshwaram, Serilingampally, Chevella and Ibrahimpatnam mandals for setting up AI City.

Karnataka emerged as the top state in the South zone in Q1 FY 2024-25, with 238 projects covering 107.15 Million-SqFt and valued at 43,381 INR-Crore.

Key Stakeholders in the South Zone (Based on Construction Value)

Among the 136 design architects monitored by BX-1, appointed in 171 projects, Architect Hafeez Contractor is designing a key residential project for Godrej Properties Ltd in Yerthiganahalli, Bangalore, valued at an estimated 3,387 INR-Crore. Besides this, Biltrax also recorded 460 government and private sector project owners delivering 585 projects. Among the private developers, Anvita Group (9M Developers) and Salarpuria Sattva are working on major developments worth 4,765 INR-Crore and 4,024 INR-Crore, respectively. In the public sector, the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike is developing 4 projects at an estimated 911 INR-Crore.

F. Central Zone

Construction Projects in the Central Zone

In the Central zone, 115 building projects were mapped, covering 17.81 Million-SqFt with a combined construction cost of 5,538 INR-Crore. Of these, 58 private sector projects accounted for 11.39 Million-SqFt, valued at 3,982 INR-Crore, whereas public and public-private ventures contributed 57 projects spanning 6.42 Million-SqFt, valued at 1,556 INR-Crore.

In the Central zone, Madhya Pradesh had the highest project count and construction value, contributing 61.35% of the zone’s total construction value. The state implemented 77 building projects with a combined construction area of 11.56 Million-SqFt and a construction cost of 3,397 INR-Crore. Simultaneously, Chhattisgarh recorded 38 projects covering 6.25 Million-SqFt, valued at 2,141 INR-Crore.

The Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board (MPTB) has invited expressions of interest (EOI) from investors for developing hotels and resorts across 12 strategically located land parcels near prominent tourist destinations in the state. The board has earmarked land parcels near Ujjain, Dewas, Niwadi near Orchha, Khandwa, Burhanpur, Bhopal, Jabalpur, Chhatarpur, Raisen, and Bhopal to offer to potential investors. These will be leased for 90 years for large-scale tourism projects requiring a minimum investment of 100 INR-Crore.

BX-1 recorded 103 project owners in Q1 FY 2024-25, involved in 141 projects across the Central zone. The Public Works Department, Madhya Pradesh (MP PWD), stood out as the top government developer, with 17 projects valued at 514 INR-Crore. The projects also include two hotel developments by IHCL, a leading hospitality management company. Among the 41 design architecture firms monitored by BX-1, Mehta & Associates was appointed for two public sector projects with a combined cost of 240 INR-Crore.
