On, Sunday, August 25, the Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation (Maha-Metro) announced the opening of bids for the Pune Metro Phase 1A extension. This phase will extend the Purple Line by approximately 4.519 Km, connecting Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) to Nigdi’s Bhakti Shakti.
The new construction contract, known as PIA-C-02, marks the second contract for the Pune Metro Phase 1A extension. The scope of work includes constructing four elevated metro stations: Chinchwad, Akurdi, Nigdi, and Bhakti Shakti. Furthermore, these stations will be situated along the eastern service road of Old Mumbai Road. It excludes E&M (electromechanical) works but does include plumbing.

Additionally, the Pune Metro Phase 1A extension has an estimated cost of 910.18 INR-Crore. PM Modi laid the foundation for this ambitious extension on March 6, 2024, and it is expected to be completed by early 2027.
