Ather Energy’s new manufacturing facility in Bidkin, Maharashtra, aims to establish a cutting-edge plant for producing electric vehicles and battery packs.
Project Overview:
Ather Energy, a leading electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer, is expanding its operations with a new manufacturing facility in Maharashtra. Announced on June 24, 2024, this facility marks Ather’s third production plant and represents a significant investment in India’s growing EV sector.
Ather Energy will build its new Maharashtra plant on nearly 100 Acres in Bidkin AURIC (Aurangabad Industrial City). The groundbreaking ceremony took place on September 16, 2024. The company plans to invest an estimated 2,000 INR-Crore into the project, with 800 INR-Crore allocated to construction. Once completed, the facility will have the capacity to produce a million electric scooters annually, alongside battery pack manufacturing. The project will create around 4,000 jobs, boosting the local economy as well as the broader EV ecosystem.
Currently, Ather Energy operates two facilities in Hosur, Tamil Nadu, focusing on both vehicle assembly and battery production. The new EV unit in Maharashtra will strategically enhance production capacity while optimizing logistics. By expanding to Maharashtra, Ather Energy will reduce transportation costs as well as improve delivery times to key markets across India, positioning itself to meet the rising demand for EVs.
