The Kerala Government has approved the ambitious Sabarimala Master Plan. This comprehensive blueprint focuses on developing key areas, including Sannidhanam, Pampa, and the Truck Route. It aims to modernize infrastructure while preserving the region’s spiritual essence.
The Sannidhanam development will progress in three phases with a total estimated budget of 778.17 INR-Crore. Phase 1, costing around 600.47 INR-Crore, will address immediate needs. Phase 2, planned for 2028-2033, will require 100.02 INR-Crore. Lastly, Phase 3, scheduled between 2034-2039, will cost 77.68 INR-Crore. The master plan divides Sannidhanam into eight zones and includes two open plazas for better crowd management, ensuring uninterrupted views of the sacred Makaravilakku.

Additionally, the Truck Route will also undergo significant upgrades, with around 47.97 INR-Crore allocated for development. Phase 1 will cost an estimated 32.88 INR-Crore, while Phase 2 will require 15.50 INR-Crore. The plan incorporates shelters, rest areas, an emergency vehicle lane, and buffer zones, all designed to ensure a safer and more comfortable pilgrimage through the forest route.
Furthermore, Pampa’s development is another priority under the Sabarimala Master Plan. The project has a total estimated cost of 207.48 INR-Crore, with 184.75 INR-Crore earmarked for Phase 1 and 22.73 INR-Crore for Phase 2. The Sabarimala Master Plan ensures that sacred traditions remain intact while meeting the needs of growing pilgrim numbers.
