Maa Mundeshwari Wildlife Eco Park: A Visionary Blend of Culture, Ecology, and Community Engagement
Nestled in the picturesque Kaimur district of Bihar, Maa Mundeshwari Wildlife Eco Park stands as a groundbreaking example of how architecture and ecology can coexist. Spanning 14 Acres, it is Bihar’s first wildlife-themed park, setting a benchmark for sustainable tourism and environmental education. Designed by Angad Singh Phokela of Rurban Design Lab (Iconographic Designs Pvt Ltd), the park integrates cultural heritage, eco-architecture, and community engagement, fostering awareness while celebrating the region’s rich history.

Ecological Conservation and Sustainable Design
The park follows the contours of the Kaimur hills, featuring walking trails, observation points, and native flora to enhance biodiversity. Sustainable landscaping techniques, including automated irrigation systems, minimize environmental disruption. Restored ponds and artificial waterfalls contribute to microclimate cooling, with Buddha Sarovar exemplifying the fusion of heritage and modern design.
Located near the historic Maa Mundeshwari Temple, the park pays homage to local traditions with sculptures and motifs reflecting India’s spiritual and cultural identity. A unique highlight is the Sculptural Trees of Navarasa, representing nine fundamental emotions in Indian aesthetics. These intricately carved trees offer visitors an immersive artistic experience.

Engaging Installations and Visitor Attractions
- Animal Parade Installation: A life-sized procession of rhinoceroses, giraffes, lions, and even a dinosaur creates a dynamic, playful space for visitors.
- Open-Air Theater: Inspired by ancient amphitheaters, this venue accommodates 300-400 people, using locally sourced stone for optimal acoustics and natural integration.
- Rainbow Pergolas Gateways: Painted in a vibrant spectrum, these gateways symbolize diversity and harmony in the natural world.
- Surya Namaskar Statues: Constructed with fly ash and lime, these statues encourage physical wellness and spiritual mindfulness.

Grand Entrance and Rest Areas
The main entrance gates feature a grand rocky arch adorned with sculpted figures of elephants, tigers, and primates. Metal grillwork with tree motifs and vibrant medallions enhances the connection to nature. Double-tiered gazebos, inspired by Asian designs, provide shaded rest areas with 360-degree landscape views, ensuring comfort for visitors.
Maa Mundeshwari Wildlife Eco Park aligns with Bihar’s Jal-Jeevan-Hariyali Mission, integrating rainwater harvesting and solar-powered lighting. The park’s infrastructure incorporates locally sourced materials like natural stone, bamboo, and metal. A prime example is the Bamboo and Metal Foot Over Bridge, emphasizing eco-friendly construction and traditional craftsmanship.

Treehouse and Elevated Experience
A beautifully crafted treehouse blends traditional and modern elements using bamboo and wood. Designed with multi-level platforms and a red-tiled pitched roof, it offers an immersive eco-tourism and wildlife awareness experience. Connected by a curved wooden footbridge, it ensures safety while preserving existing trees and minimizing ground impact.
Maa Mundeshwari Wildlife Eco Park is a testament to visionary eco-architecture, seamlessly blending cultural heritage, sustainable design, and community engagement. By promoting wildlife conservation, environmental education, and artistic expression, the park offers a unique experience that honors Bihar’s natural beauty and rich traditions.
