Maharashtra signs agreements for 57,260 INR-Crore Pumped Storage Hydropower projects

The Maharashtra Water Resources Department, MAHAGENCO, MREL, and Avaada Aqua Batteries signed three MoUs on Tuesday, April 29, to build pumped storage hydropower projects across nine sites. With an estimated investment of 57,260 INR-Crore, these developments aim to deliver a total installed capacity of 8,905 MW.

The state plans to create 9,200 jobs through this initiative. MAHAGENCO will take up four projects — 125 MW at Ghatghar, 220 MW at Kodali, 1,200 MW at Varasgaon, and 1,600 MW at Panshet. Simultaneously, MREL will construct 110 MW at Mutkhed, 1,200 MW at Nive, and 800 MW at Varandaghat. Meanwhile, Avaada Aqua Batteries will execute two large-scale projects — 2,400 MW at Pawana Falyan and 1,250 MW at Sirsala.
