Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari announced plans for a new ring road to enhance connectivity across Goa, Maharashtra, and Karnataka. The ring road will skirt Goa’s coastal periphery, costing between 12,000 INR-Crore and 15,000 INR-Crore. This strategic initiative aims to decongest the national highway by avoiding the state’s central region.
The ring road will stretch from Patradevi on the Goa-Maharashtra border to Karnataka. It promises smoother traffic flow and improved regional connectivity. Additionally, the project includes an observatory tower, further boosting Goa’s infrastructure appeal.
Meanwhile, Gadkari announced other significant projects, including:
- 1,200 INR-Crore for a four-lane road from Cuncolim to Benurdem in South Goa.
- 2,000 INR-Crore for a four-lane road from the Karnataka border to Mollem.
- 1,000 INR-Crore for four-laning the stretch between Mollem and Khandekar.
- 1,200 INR-Crore for a new bridge near the existing Zuari bridge at Borim.
