AM/NS to set up 1.4 Lakh INR-Crore steel project in Andhra Pradesh

AM/NS India, a joint venture by ArcelorMittal and Japan’s Nippon Steel, is set to establish an integrated steel project in Andhra Pradesh’s Anakapalli district. With an estimated investment of 1.4 Lakh INR-Crore, the project’s capacity will be 17.8 Million Tonnes

The AM/NS steel project will mark one of the largest greenfield projects in recent history. In the first phase, the company will construct a blast furnace steel plant with a capacity of around 7.3 Million Metric Tonnes per Annum (MMTPA). This would require an estimated 80,000 INR-Crore and around 2,600 Acres of land.

Following this, AM/NS India will advance to phase two, expanding the capacity by an additional 10.5 MMTPA with a further 60,000 INR-Crore investment, requiring another 2,000 Acres. Additionally, the foundation stone is set to be laid in January 2025. With this new steel project in Andhra Pradesh, the company is steadily advancing toward its ambitious goal of 40 MMTPA by 2035.

Furthermore, AM/NS plans to increase its steel production capacity in Hazira, Gujarat from 9.6 MMTPA to 15 MMTPA. It also plans to launch a new greenfield project in Paradip, Odisha, targeting an additional 9-10 Million Tonnes within the next five years.
