Assam Cabinet approves 7,730 INR-Crore infrastructure investment MoUs

The Assam Cabinet, on Wednesday, May 7, approved infrastructure investment proposals worth 7,730 INR-Crore under the Advantage Assam 2.0 initiative. These agreements aim to boost the infrastructure investment of Assam, creating new opportunities for industrial growth.

The approved MoUs include an estimated 1,500 INR-Crore in foreign investment. Several sectors, including cement, hospitality, ethanol, and paper manufacturing, will benefit from these investments. Companies such as Kohinoor Pulp and Paper Pvt Ltd and Megh Tech Cement are among the key investors. The major highlights of the approved Advantage Assam 2.0 initiative include:

  • Kohinoor Pulp and Paper Pvt Ltd981 INR-Crore investment to boost paper manufacturing.
  • Megh Tech Cement Company 860 INR-Crore investment to enhance cement production.
  • RPN Speciality Paper Pvt Ltd827 INR-Crore investment to strengthen the paper industry.
  • Amrit Cement617 INR-Crore investment aimed at expanding cement infrastructure.
  • Max Cement 521 INR-Crore funding for cement manufacturing.
  • Inflex Company378 INR-Crore investment focusing on industrial expansion.

Additionally, hospitality projects by the Taj and Marriott Groups will introduce high-end hotels, enhancing Guwahati’s urban landscape. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also stated that these investments will generate over 16,000 jobs.

Furthermore, infrastructure projects, including express highways and water supply schemes, are also in the pipeline. These infrastructure investment proposals align with Assam ’s vision for economic and sustainable growth.
