Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) plans a major upgrade for Kempegowda International Airport and has invited bids to construct an elevated western cross-field taxiway (WCT).
This new taxiway is crucial to BIAL’s master plan to enhance efficiency and safety for aircraft transitioning between terminals and runways. Set for completion by 2026, the WCT will accommodate various aircraft, including large wide-body jets like the Airbus A380, Boeing 777, and Boeing 747-8.

The new taxiway will boost airside capacity by connecting the south and north runways on the west side, improving airfield circulation and runway connectivity. This enhancement will result in shorter taxi times and a smoother flow of aircraft movements, increasing safety and efficiency.
