Bengaluru Namma Metro Update: BMRCL approves 40 Km Double-Decker Corridor along Phase 3

Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL) has approved a 40.65 Km double-decker corridor for Bangalore Namma Metro. This project is part of Phase 3 and aims to ease Bengaluru’s traffic congestion.

The double-decker corridor will integrate elevated roads and Metro viaducts in Bangalore. It includes two new lines:

  • JP Nagar 4th Phase to Kempapura (32.15 Km)
  • Hosahalli to Kadabagere (12.5 Km)

The estimated cost of the project is 8,916 INR-Crore. Of this, 6,368 INR-Crore is dedicated to civil works, while Rs 2,548 crore is for land acquisition. The final design plans will be ready in two months. After that, tenders for civil work will be floated. Additionally, Japanese agency JICA is in talks to fund a portion of the project.

This is the second such initiative by Bangalore Metro, following a 3 Km multi-deck structure between Central Silk Board and Ragigudda. The double-decker design will improve road connectivity and public transport in Bangalore. It will further help reduce travel time and declutter key routes.
