On August 30, Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) announced through a regulatory filing that it had received an order from the state-owned power producer NTPC. The order pertains to the establishment of the 2×800 MW Supercritical Thermal Power Project Stage-II in Lara, Chhattisgarh.

The scope of work encompasses designing, engineering, manufacturing, supplying, constructing, erecting, testing, and commissioning, including civil and structural works for the EPC Package. The work order also includes a Steam Generator capable of Biomass co-firing, a Steam Turbine, a Generator and related auxiliaries, emission control systems, control and instrumentation, and other balance of plant packages.
As per the contract, the company is obligated to complete unit-1 within 48 months from the zero date, while unit-2’s execution must be accomplished within 52 months from the zero date.
