BKC bullet train terminal in Mumbai received the lowest bid of INR 3,681 crore

The Mumbai Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Project has selected Megha Engineering & Infrastructures Ltd and Hindustan Construction Company Limited Joint Venture (M/s MEIL-HCC Joint Venture) as the lowest bidder for the construction of the bullet train terminus at BKC at INR 3,681 crore.

In July 2022, theNational High Speed Rail Corporation Limited(NHSRCL) reinvited the financial bids for “Civil Contract Package C1” featuring the construction of the BKC bullet train terminal station which will have six platforms and be able to accommodate 16-coach trains.

According to the financial bid results released in December 2022, the joint venture formed byMEILandHCC emerged as the lowest bidder with INR 3,681 crore, beating out the other three major infrastructure companies. Other bidders for the project were Afcons Infrastructure Ltd., who quoted their bid at INR 4,217 crore and Larsen & Toubro Ltd., who quoted their bid at INR 4,590 crore. The bid proposal submitted by J Kumar Infraprojects Ltd. was disqualified because it did not adhere to NIT (Notice Inviting Tender) guidelines. 

Tata Consulting Engineers Ltd. is appointed as the project’s Structural Engineer Consultant, while Sarathy Geotech and Engineering Services Private Ltd. are appointed as the Geotechnical Engineering Consultant. The PMC (Program/Project Management) consultants for the project are Nippon Koei India Private Ltd. and Oriental Consultants India Private Ltd.
