Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) has inked a pact with a renewable energy firm to set up solar and wind energy plants in Neemuch during a program at Kushabhau Thakre International Convention Center.
Under the agreement, BMC will invest INR 28 crore in the INR 76 crore solar project at Neemuch, with the remaining amount reportedly being covered by the firm. The solar plant is expected to generate electricity worth INR 367 crore annually.
Additionally, BMC will allocate INR 30 crore for the wind energy plant, making the total cost of the wind project approximately INR 100 crore. The solar and wind plants will provide electricity at rates of INR 3.47 per unit and INR 4.24 per unit, respectively. With renewable energy, electricity will be available at a lower rate for 25 years and BMC will save INR 14 crore per year.
