BMW Industries to set up 803.47 INR-Crore greenfield downstream steel complex in Jharkhand

BMW Industries plans to invest an estimated 803.47 INR-Crore in establishing a greenfield downstream steel complex in Bokaro, Jharkhand. The company announced setting up the project on Thursday, March 20. This project marks a significant step in the company’s expansion strategy in the steel processing sector.

The upcoming BMW steel complex in Jharkhand will produce cold-rolled full hard coils, galvanized coils, and color-coated coils. The breakdown comprises 3 Lakh-TPA of cold rolled full hard coil/sheets production, 5.4 Lakh-TPA galvanised coil/sheets, and 2 Lakh-TPA color coated coils/sheets production. With an annual capacity of 10.4 Lakh-tonnes, it aims to meet both domestic and global steel demand.

The project will be financed through a combination of internal accruals and debt. BMW Industries plans phased operational launches for this Jharkhand steel complex, with the first phase expected to commence in FY 2026-27. The company has already acquired industrial land for this project. Leveraging its location near raw material sources, the complex will ensure efficient supply chain operations.
