BPCL (Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd) announced the company will set up a Polypropylene Production (PP) Unit at its Kochi refinery worth an estimated cost of INR 5,044 Crore. The company’s board approved the proposal during its exchange filing on Tuesday, December 19.
The proposed facility will have a capacity of 400 KTPA (Kilo Tonnes Per Annum) and is anticipated to be fully operational within 40 months of investment approval. The project will be financed through a debt-equity ratio of 65:35.

The Kochi refinery is one of the three refineries owned by BPCL having a crude oil refining capacity of 15.5 million MTPA (Metric Tonnes Per Annum). It produces liquefied petroleum gas, naphtha, motor spirits, kerosene, aviation turbine fuel, high-speed diesel, and asphalt, among various specialty products.
