CMRL signs contract agreement worth 1817.54 INR-Crore with TATA Projects for Five Underground Stations

Chennai Metro Rail Ltd (CMRL) signed a contract with TATA projects worth 1817.54 INR-Crore for the construction of five underground stations. A letter of acceptance for the tender was issued on Wednesday, October 11 prior to the signing of the contract on Friday, October 13. This was a JICA (Japan International Corporation Agency) funded tender.

The field of work involves the construction of five underground stations with Entry and Exit points (at Kolathur Junction Metro, Srinivasa Nagar Metro, Villivakkam Metro, Villivakkam Bus Terminus Metro and Villivakkam MTH Road Metro). Along with Twin Bored Tunnels from Kolathur Junction Retrieval Shaft to Villivakkam MTH Road Launching Shaft and Ramps in Corridor-5 of CMRL Phase II Project.

Additional scope of work includes the construction of Ventilation shafts, Plumbing, Earthmat, Architectural finishes and Signages, etc.

With the award of UG06, Chennai Metro Rail Ltd has completed 100% of the civil and track contracts for Phase II, which comprises 116.1 km of metro line in three corridors.
