Cisco, the global technology giant, has announced plans to establish a manufacturing plant in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. This move is aimed at diversifying the company’s global supply chain, with a target of achieving $1 billion (approximately 8,205 INR-Crore) in combined domestic production and exports in the coming years.
The manufacturing plant is expected to become operational within 12 months and is projected to generate $1 billion in total revenue, including revenue from exports. This facility will play a crucial role in enabling Cisco to develop cutting-edge technologies catering to customers in India and around the world.
The India facility will comprise testing and development centers, as well as a logistics network to bolster its domestic supply chain. Cisco intends to expand its domestic hardware repair operations and reduce lead times for supplying hardware to enterprises in India and abroad.
