CM Stalin lays foundation for various projects worth 570 INR-Crore

Chief Minister M K Stalin, on Wednesday, January 28, laid the foundation for various housing and infrastructure projects worth an estimated 570 INR-Crore in Chennai. These include the construction of 2,404 tenements by the Tamil Nadu Urban Habitat Development Board and a ‘Unity Mall’ dedicated to handlooms and handicrafts in Egmore.

The upcoming Unity Mall will feature items from across Tamil Nadu, promoting the state’s handloom industry. It will also house shops representing various districts and states, an innovation center, and a design printing house. Furthermore, amenities like cafeteria elevators, restrooms, and fire safety measures will also be incorporated.

The tenements will be built in Radhapuram, Ottanchathiram, and Kumarapalayam constituencies, each measuring 400 SqFt. These will also include basic amenities like roads, water supply, sewage systems, and rainwater harvesting. Meanwhile, the project in Kumarapalayam is supported by the Asian Development Bank.

Additionally, CM Stalin handed over 62.5 INR-Crore for the renovation of 2,500 temples and laid the foundation for a 15 INR-Crore fishing landing centre in Kooduthalai, Radhapuram block, Tirunelveli.
