Container Corporation of India Ltd (CONCOR) is collaborating with private firms to establish three container freight stations (CFS) at its Kathuwas Multi-Modal Logistics Park (MMLP) in Rajasthan. This strategic move aims to enhance efficiency and boost container handling capacity in the northern region.

The Kathuwas MMLP is connected to the dedicated freight corridor, allowing for the operation of double-stack container trains. It has a current handling capacity of 700,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) annually. Each of the three planned CFSs at Kathuwas MMLP will cover an area of approximately 10-12 Acres.

The joint venture agreement will be for an initial period of 30 years, extendable by mutual agreement. Global container lines such as MSC, Maersk, CMA CGM, and terminal giants like PSA International and DP World have expressed interest in the joint venture. It will assist in reducing transit times and cost savings for container movement from northern India to Mundra and Pipavav ports.
