The Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MoHFW) plans to construct a new All India Institute of Medical College (AIIMS) in Thoppur, located in the Madurai district of Tamil Nadu, in Thirupparankundram Taluk, Kona Pudupatti Village. This project includes establishing hospitals, trauma center facilities, medical colleges, residential complexes, and allied facilities.
The land area covered by the project is 222.47 acres, with a total construction area of 2,161,940 SqFt. The estimated construction cost of the project is 1,977 INR-Crore.
The consortium comprising M/s. Mukesh & Associates, India, Nippon Koei Co., Ltd., Japan, and Nippon Koei India Pvt. Ltd. has been appointed as the Project Management Consultants for the establishment of the AIIMS Madurai project.
As of August 2023, prequalification bids are invited for the construction of buildings and site development for AIIMS Madurai.
