The Congress Government has launched several development projects in Hyderabad worth over 1 Lakh INR-Crore to transform the city into a Future Hub. Among the major initiatives is the Musi Riverfront Development Project, which focuses on rejuvenating the river. To tackle sewage issues, the government is installing 39 STPs to purify water entering the river.
Additionally, the authority is planning a ‘Future City’ across an anticipated 30,000 Acres, to meet future demands. This city will include the Young India Skill University and serve as a hub for software and life sciences industries. It will also feature a Pharma City and AI City.

Furthermore, to tackle traffic congestion, new flyovers, elevated corridors, and radial roads are planned. Under the Hyderabad City Innovation and Transformative Infrastructure Project (HCITI), an estimated 8,996 INR-Crore has been allocated for roads in GHMC areas. Additionally, around 596.2 INR-Crore will fund flood canals to resolve waterlogging issues.
Major upgrades include an estimated 2,232 INR-Crore elevated corridor on Rajiv Rahadari and a 1,580 INR-Crore double-decker elevated corridor. The government also approved Phase II of the Hyderabad Metro project with an estimated investment of 24,237 INR-Crore, extending 76.4 Km to cover the Old City.
Other initiatives and projects in Hyderabad include:
- Construction of a 4-lane bridge at Mir Alam Lake with an estimated budget of 60 INR-Crore
- Inauguration of a flyover connecting Aramgarh to Zoo Park
- Allocation of an anticipated 100 Acres for building a new High Court complex
- Development of a new Osmania Hospital building in Goshamahal
- Approval of around 826 INR-Crore for upgrading six junctions near KBR Park
Consequently, these development projects in Hyderabad are shaping the city into a futuristic hub, setting benchmarks in urban growth and innovation while addressing its dynamic needs.
