Vikas Kumar, Chief of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), announced the plans to inaugurate the first segment of Phase IV (at the Janakpuri West – R K Ashram Marg) of Delhi Metro by July 2024. This corridor will be approximately 28.92 km long and around 40% of the construction work has been completed by October 2023.
The project involves the use of several pioneering techniques to ensure a smoother drilling process with minimal surprises, including “Beam Technology enabled – Tunnel Boring Machines (TBMs)”, which access strata layers in advance.

The Chief of DMRC also announced that the corporation is actively engaged in three priority corridors spanning approximately 65.2 km with 45 stations. These corridors include –
On the extension of the operational Magenta and Pink line –
- Janakpuri West – R K Ashram Marg (spanning 28.92 km)
- Majlis Park – Maujpur corridor (spanning 12.55 km) – the corridor is expected to open by March 2025, and
- Aerocity – Tughlakabad corridor (spanning 23.62 km) also known as the “Silver Line”, connecting the Violet line and Airport line.
Together, these lines are scheduled to fully operate by March 2026.
