MLA Ashish Shelar, on Tuesday, October 8, laid the foundation stone for a new 174-bed cancer hospital in Bandra West. This state-of-the-art facility, towering 13 storeys, is being constructed at an estimated 213 INR-Crore.
The cancer hospital will come up opposite Bhabha Hospital in Bandra with an approximate built-up area of 13,000 SqM. It is expected to be completed within the next 36 months. The hospital will feature advanced treatment options, including two bunker rooms for radiation therapy, chemotherapy, and brachytherapy. Additionally, the building will have 12 OPD wards and five laboratories. These include biochemistry, histopathology, haematology, and microbiology units, apart from mammography and PET-CT units.

The upcoming Bandra Cancer Hospital building will also have a lecture hall, seminar hall, blood bank, and isolation rooms. It will further feature an intensive care unit (ICU), laboratories, and accommodations for both patients’ relatives and hospital staff. This new facility aims to alleviate the burden on existing hospitals such as Tata Memorial and provide much-needed cancer care to the community.
